The answer is more interesting than simply changing its appearance. This 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 began life finished in traditional gloss metallic black paint. In partnership with Mercedes-Benz of Georgetown, the team at ICON Automotive Austin completely transformed the exterior using matte Paint Protection Film, commonly known as PPF. The result is the satin, factory-inspired finish you see today. But underneath that new appearance is still the vehicle's original gloss black paint.

And that's the beauty of Paint Protection Film.

A Different Look. Serious Protection.

Paint Protection Film is a virtually invisible urethane film applied over a vehicle's painted surfaces to help protect them from the damage that comes with everyday driving.

Rock chips. Road debris. Bug impacts. Light scratches. Environmental exposure.

Instead of allowing those things to directly attack the factory paint, PPF provides a sacrificial layer of protection between the vehicle and the road.

On this GLE 43, we took that idea one step further. Rather than using traditional gloss PPF, we installed matte Paint Protection Film over the vehicle's gloss black paint, creating an entirely different appearance while simultaneously protecting the original finish underneath.

It's one of our favorite things about matte PPF: You don't have to own a factory matte-painted vehicle to have the look of one.

Unlike permanently repainting the vehicle, the film can be professionally removed in the future, revealing the original paint beneath it.

Badges and emblems are removed when appropriate so the film can be installed beneath them, then precisely reinstalled.

Every panel, edge and transition is considered.
